A study funded by antimicrobial coatings maker Allied BioScience found that … wait for it … antimicrobial coatings are antimicrobial (and therefore can help against you-know-what).

Said one of the University of Arizona researchers: “The only tools we have currently in reducing the environmental spread of viruses via surfaces are hand sanitizer, hand washing and the disinfection of surfaces.”

In fact, that’s just not true. There’s a simpler alternative: Use copper. It’s antibacterial and isn’t under someone’s patent. Just sayin’.
