Fight for science
Were Middle-Age bronze weapons — soft and hard to repair — really for battle, or were they just for show? In a demonstration of dedication, one archeologist had weapons made, then got “members of a local club devoted to recreating and teaching medieval European combat styles”* to fight with them.
[T]he team was able to show that the patterns of wear did indeed match up with real combat techniques – indicating these weapons weren’t just ceremonial items.
